Lissa’s Story

My husband and I were trying to conceive for 13 months without any success. Over the course of the next 3 years, we consulted with two fertility clinics and unfortunately neither one was able to provide us with any answers.
It was after our second miscarriage during treatment at the second facility that we knew we needed to find another option. Thankfully, a friend of mine had just told me about the success she experienced with RMAPA and recommended that we go see Dr. Schillings. I called immediately and scheduled an appointment in June 2015.
We were desperate for answers and finally someone was able to give us some. After a number of tests, Dr. Schillings was able to uncover that I had severe endometriosis. While this wasn’t the answer we were hoping for, it did help explain why it had been so difficult for us to conceive and keep a pregnancy.
We began our course of treatment at RMAPA with 2 medicated timed intercourse cycles and 3 IUIs cycles with no success. We were very hesitant to try IVF in the past, but ultimately decided to take the leap. We started treatments through RMAPA’s CareShare program in January 2017. The first cycle failed in April 2017, the second cycle ended in an early miscarriage in May 2017, and the third cycle also ended in an early miscarriage in October 2017. At this point I decided to make some personal changes by going gluten free and 90% dairy free. Dr. Schillings also ran one last test which determined that I was a single carrier for the MTHFR Genetic Mutation Disorder. She recommended that I add and change a few supplements and I even started seeing a Holistic Nutritionist.
After a lot of prayer and over 6 years of struggling with infertility, we began cycle #4 and in January 2018 we heard a heartbeat on the monitor for the very first time. It was an exhausting and extremely emotional experience, but we couldn’t be happier to finally be expecting our miracle baby in September 2018.
We feel so blessed to have had RMAPA be a part of our journey and my biggest piece of advice is to allow yourself to be vulnerable and surrender yourself to their care. We never would have gotten here without the help of Dr. Schillings and her team. It was a long road, but in the end it is so worth it. Thank you, RMAPA, we can’t wait to meet our miracle!
